The Beginning of a Tradition
Joseph and Girtie Lee Wilson-Stewart established the foundation of our family's enduring legacy. The Gathering is the beginning of this new tradition, honoring their unwavering commitment to family, their strength of character, and their deep roots in Mississippi that have inspired generations of our family.
Born and raised in Jefferson County Mississippi, Girtie Lee Stewart was known for her wisdom, hospitality, and ability to bring family together across distances. She believed that regular family gatherings were essential to maintaining our connections and passing down our shared history and values.
This annual Gathering is our way of honoring their legacy and fulfilling their wish that the family would always remain connected to each other and to our ancestral home in Mississippi.
"Family is like branches on a tree. We may grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one."
— A favorite saying of Girtie Lee Stewart
Each year, we will gather to celebrate our heritage, share stories, and create new memories together. Our 4th of July 2026 Celebration in Springfield will mark a special continuation of our family tradition and connection to our roots.
